The Power the Dark Lord Knows Not

The Dark Lord knows not the power of love. It sounds lame, but truly it is a basic human need that Voldemort just doesn’t understand. Voldemort tried to possess Harry but found that he couldn’t because he detested that force inside of him. Voldemort has never felt affection or love for anyone, ever. Since he does not value love, he takes no trouble to comprehend it, either.

Voldemort doesn’t understand the power of love, and as well as this I don’t think he understands happiness. He fought against the world to make it his, to win and succeed. He never wanted to be content, and only took joy in dark terrible things.

We know this from one of Dumbledore’s descriptions of Voldemort:

“Your mother died to save you. If there is one thing Voldemort cannot understand, it is love. He didn’t realize that love as powerful as your mother’s for you leaves its own mark.”

If he is unable to realize how love was an ingredient in powerful magic, how could he understand the use of happiness either? He would have defended himself by force.

A second point: Like Snape, Voldemort grew up a very unhappy child, and from what I remember did not find happiness at Hogwarts either, merely satisfaction and justification of his thoughts and beliefs, that he was different but only because he was better than others. That’s not happiness.

Love. It is the power the Dark Lord knows not. It is Harry’s greatest power, his greatest protection. He’s too weak to seek one.

I think, if Harry walked up to Voldemort, give him a big hug and said, “I love you!” and really meant it, it would be more than Voldemort’s twisted and damaged soul could handle, and Voldemort would simply cease to exist.

Tom Riddle is the weak one. Not Potter, nor me.

From my heart to you..

I know we don’t get to talk or see each other much. But being apart for now doesn’t change the way I feel about you in my heart. Sure I’m lonely, and sometimes I’m overwhelmed with this emptiness in my chest. But, just remember that I love you and everything about you. That’s what gets me through every minute of every day that I’m without you. I long to hold you and feel your sweet caress, I have never loved anyone as much as I love you.

You make me feel loved, you make me feel safe, but more importantly, you make me feel wanted. We both knew our friendship would grow right from the very first day we spoke. But, neither one of us could begin to imagine the love we both feel, not exploding or thundering into our hearts, but just slowly growing into a beautiful relationship that only you and I can understand. I don’t usually feel the kilometers between us, but for some reason, tonight I do. I miss you, with every fiber of my being.
